The Vancouver Canucks announced on Sunday that they’ve fired head coach Bruce Boudreau and changed him with Rick Tocchet.
Tocchet had been working as an NHL analyst on TNT’s TV broadcasts.
It ends what has been a clumsy and embarrassing saga over the previous couple of weeks when it turned apparent the Canucks have been going to fireplace Boudreau with out really firing him. Staff president Jim Rutherford acknowledged a week ago that he was speaking to potential replacements, whereas it had been broadly reported in Vancouver that Boudreau was going to be fired someday this week.
